Stef called to let us know that the latest Canadian Tire flyer had their little 6' kids kayaks on special at $89. We started checking around and found that no stores seemed to have them in stock, not Parry Sound, not Sudbury, not Barrie. Some special ! However, continuing to check, the Huntsville store had 20 ... and since Sandy was headed for Huntsville ... she called and they held two for her.
Now we need the companion kids paddles. Huntsville didn't have them. Barrie Bayfield did; they had two. I talked to Stef and David and between them they made arrangements to pick these up and David brought them up. David also picked up pads, rotors and calipers, so guess what we'll be doing ... ?
Sandy and Lauren headed off to Huntsville to meet Kylie for lunch, taking the SUV because the kayaks would fit in the back.
I decided to work on the 3-wheeler; see my "confessions" blog that was posted before this one. The 3-wheeler is now working; it was always working; brains were not working.
David lucked out, having arrived early afternoon. When I headed off at 4pm for Mass in Port Loring, I scooted out of Osprey into a bunch of traffic. As far as I could see ahead and behind, there was a line of cars. Ok, I figured that something had happened on highway 69. Sure enough we found out later that there had been an accident at Point au Baril, and there's no way to bypass that spot, so all traffic was being routed west on 522 over to highway 11 and then south; similarly northbound traffic must have been routed east ... where ? ... at Parry Sound ? ... ugh. All the traffic that we saw, however, was eastbound.
After Mass I was visiting with my Aunt Ruth, Anne, Christine and Maurice and lo and behold, Sandy shows up, on her way back from Huntsville. She too had noticed the traffic (hard not to notice !).
We had rainbow trout for dinner. Lauren is a good eater and likes fish.
Speaking of Lauren, she's a delight to have around. She has done some major growing up in the last year as prior to this, if here alone, she would get bored. She is doing well. David is here now and the action will only continue to increase. Jeffrey and Sara and kids are leaving Reading soon today (Sunday) and will be here, we expect, sometime late today. Stef and Aaron are expected tomorrow.
We plan to deep fry a turkey on Tuesday; we're all set for that. Sandy bought an 18 pound bird from Tarini's. The only issue is whether or not it fits in the fryer. I'll have to test that with water and if not, will have to dismember it :).
We have a hot week ahead of us with temps into the 90's. Timing is great.
Onward !
