Aug 4 - W10 & Abby

I left the cottage a little early for my drive to Barrie, intending to get some quick shopping done on the way to Stef's & the doggy chiropractor.  It was a whirlwind -- Home Depot (pipe wrap for bike packing), Staples (bubble wrap and ink pad ink), bulk barn (chicken soup mix), bank (cash), Stef (drop off Lauren's bathing suit and Stef's book, pick up life preservers and booster seat), then to the Chiropractor.

That's my kind of shopping -- in and out quickly.  The only kind of shopping that I really like doing is online.

Anyhoo ... As I said to Jason, Chiropractor's aren't exactly scientific.  However, they do help some people -- probably would help me -- but will they (she) help Abby ?  Time will tell.  She was fairly thorough, putting Abby through her paces, walking around and observing, checking joints and muscles (no reaction, which is good ... I guess ... in other words, didn't find anything wrong), then "adjustment" which consisted of kneading the muscles along the back bone.  Abby has / has developed a kind of rounded back and stance but whether that's a symptom or a cause remains to be seen.

Sandy picked up more antibiotics on the way down and she's now off the anti-inflammatory.  Hopefully the latter will help as it seems that the cure was worse than the disease, in this case.  She's still not automatically hungry but she did eat her dinner.  Sandy had been giving her chicken and rice; I tried her own food with a little chicken soup added, and she gobbled that up.

After the Chiro and this time with Abby, I stopped to get my hair cut but the place was closed for lunch.  Rats.  I self-inspected in the mirror and decided that I'll skip that, go shaggy on the trip.  Sandy headed south to Toronto for her hair appointment, dinner with Angelika, breakfast with Joyce, toes and nails.  Important stuff indeed !

Once I was back, I got something to eat, since I hadn't had any lunch, then headed next door.  They had guests arrive at the same time, friends from Edmonton/Calgary who have a place in Honey Harbour, long time friends.  I hung out for my glass of wine then headed back.  My day was pretty much finished.

Before heading to Barrie, I'd run the W10 upgrade on the VMWare PC.  It seems to have worked like a charm.  The only issue that I ran into was not accessing my shared folders but some Googling and a Regedit (ugh) and they were back in business.  I now have to download W10 Home for the laptop, forgot to start that process up last night.  If I remember, I'll kick that off before going to bed tonight.

W10 definitely has some differences from W7 and W8, time will tell if they are good differences (for me).  I haven't done any real exploring.  This is pretty early for me, being an early adopter isn't normal, but so far so good.  I will probably run into some more VMWare gotchas, but it's up and running.

I moved some more wood into the wood box the other day and may do some more today.  I've also got to get started on bike packing, submit the Generac claim (I have the form from them), participate in a Randonneurs Ontario call tonight, etc. etc.  We leave Monday so there isn't much time.  I also the annual Lost Channel Local Roads Board meeting on Friday and have to squeeze in a couple of rides.

Onward !
