Sep 1 - more Lisbon

After breakfast, we headed out for the hop-on-hop-off, taking the yellow bus, which was more convenient than the red bus that we used so much last year (and we used in Barcelona).  While interesting, we both agreed that we enjoyed Barcelona much more.  After the ride, we wandered and shopped a little, didn't buy anything, had lunch etc. etc.  We're now kind of hanging around and awaiting dinner, drinking a glass of wine, of course.

Lunch was somewhat like yesterday's snack, but reversed.  I had the octopus salad and Sandy had a tuna salad.  Her's was huge; mine medium-so in looks, but just as filling.

In case you're wondering, these are large plates.  The eggs and pineapple probably give some notion as to the size of the meal.

Yes, we are eating well.  We've found a place for dinner and we've booked some hotel rooms -- Porto for two nights; Saint-Emilion for two nights, Meaux for one night.  The only night outstanding is the night between Porto and ST. E.

Although it's a week before we head back, it almost feels like we're winding down.  Porto is center city; StE is way out in the countryside; Meaux is center city, close to CDG airport.

.......

Some of these breadfast spreads are really something ...

The Nespresso machine for making coffee/espresso/cappuccino, with a large selection of coffees (and teas etc).

Various breads and cakes and yes, you do see champagne.

All sorts of meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, spreads.

Tarts, muffins, more cheese, tomatoes and mozzarella.

Fruit, custard, little deserts -- pineapple tastes wonderful here because, of course, it's grown here.

Cereals, accompaniments, yogurt, milk and juice, even soy milk at this one.

... and of course eggs, bacon, and this one has a mixed veggie too.  Some have fried eggs, hard-boiled eggs, different sausages.

I'm eating a lot for breakfast.  I can't refuse some of this but am sticking with my low-carb approach.  Sandy generally has cereal, perhaps toast, a small portion of egg and bacon.  Yesterday she had a Portuguese tart -- she loves those --

Sandy's sleeping now -- well, she couldn't really sleep when I had my shower and the light comes through the frosted glass on the bathroom door -- but at least she was not getting up.  I came down to the restaurant for coffee and to finish off this blog.

Here's another shot of the breakfast spread ... no, all that booze isn't for breakfast !

Today ... off to Porto, a short drive north.

Onward !
