What a great day. Sunny and warm, no bugs; it doesn't get any better than this.
I puttered around the yard, shuffling trailers (moving 4x6 out, boat trailers in), running the snow blower and splitter for a bit, just to give them some exercise. I used the chain saw to cut some maple slices for Sandy; not sure where that's going, and then, since it was running, checked behind the barn and cut up a small fallen maple for firewood, hauled that out front for splitting. Splitting will come later.
I also did some puttering with the Fortigate, playing with various options. I'm trying to figure out how to turn on logging and a local slave dns server. It seems that others are trying to do these things too, based on my queries. I'll explore more later.
I did some plumbing -- replaced the kitchen faucets -- it pained me to replace perfectly good working faucets but Sandy likes the ones in Florida better, so now we have the same ones here. Anyone need a Moen faucet ?
Sandy went for a kayak paddle, heard all the lake gossip from Carters and Simms, got a tour of what Carters have done with the Matthew's house.
Late afternoon the Davies came over and we had cheese, crackers, tapenade, hummus snacks and grilled squid. The latter were excellent. Next time, more squid. It would be easy to do a meal of that. The Davies then headed home for dinner; we had a couple more snacks and put dinner back in the fridge for the next day.
Very early in the day I'd received web notification that the thermostat in the kitchen in Florida wasn't communicating. That usually happens when there's a power outage and the notification usually covers all three thermostats. It didn't come back online, so I asked Lisa to check it out. She did so, and all seemed ok. I told her not to worry about it; I'd figure out what needed resetting once we were back. Well, later in the day, I received notification that the kitchen was back online but the master bedroom was offline ... when I checked, the master was back and the upstairs was out. Later all were online. I figure that this must have been a Honeywell server problem, not my issue. Oh well.
Another day in the life was over. Onward.
