Nov 19 - heating the outside

Yes, we can now heat the outside.  We got one of those patio heaters, the Natural Gas version, now hooked up.  I've been resisting that but what the heck.  It sure throws a lot of heat when it's hot out ! (just testing, you understand).  It will be nice in January and February ... and then it's just one more thing to store somewhere.

Today Sandy had the dermo appointment and I went over to the hearing aid place to pick up my replacement.  On another front, there's no word from the glasses place, so I guess that's good news ?  After the hearing aid place, I was off to Home Depot to by some 1/2" stainless rod, washers and nuts to attach those new posts to the underpinning.  It cost me more for the 5/8" drill bit than the 24" rod, but that's done.  Now I have to finish fastening the existing boards.  I can only do so many at a time before my new batteries arrive ... today ? ... as these existing NiCad's have a very limited life.

Chet and I were supposed to go fishing this a.m. but there was rain on the way so I bailed.  I had no desire to be out there in the rain.  We have more rain heading our way as I type this.

Sandy stopped at Hull's for fish and Pep Boys to pickup the new battery for the X5.  The guy said that this new battery probably wouldn't fit as it was a lot larger than the old one ... of course he was looking at the dead marine battery that I was using as a trade-in, the old X5 battery is still in the X5 !

More ?  perhaps later ...

..........

We had supper, naturally, shrimp and sauteed spinach, one of my favorite meals.

The batteries did arrive, so I'll probably do some of that today and, hopefully, also get in a ride.  We have a strong NE wind blowing even now at 6am, so that will be a change of pace from all the southward rides that I've done lately.

Also arriving were many bottles of Patak's, having found a supplier that was selling my favorites for around $4 with zero shipping -- it's more expensive in the grocery store.

Last night, for the first time, Cassie slept in her kennel in the laundry room.  She initially made a fuss so I stayed with her for a while and then went to bed myself.  She was quiet all night, didn't make a peep even when I made coffee in the a.m.  I'm not ready to declare victory yet, but this is progress.  Abby was moved to the main floor, away from our bedroom, earlier than this.  She spent her first nights in Stef's cat crate.  Of course that must be embarrassing for a dog, so she was probably relieved to have her own place !

Onward !
