So I went to the Chiro for my second appointment and she recommended that I also have a massage. I've never done any of this stuff before so I said ok, and talked to the receptionist / scheduler and lo and behold there was a time available that day. What the heck. Home for an hour and then back, the lady gave me a head to toe massage.
I really can't say that it did anything for me. Perhaps Dr. Wendy (the Chiropractor) would know but I can't tell. I only know that I'm even more beat up this morning. Whether that's due to all their work or my work on the dock, I don't know.
What I do know is that having oil applied and the one hour workout with the massage therapist isn't something that I'd do just for the fun of doing it. She did say, at the end of it, that I need to learn to relax. She must have been talking about some other person ....
Vis-a-vis the dock, I made a trip to HD and brought back another 20 8' pieces and some 8x1/2" galvanized lag screws and washers. The lag screws were for bolting the stringers to the poles, some reinforcement even though underneath the stringers there are cross pieces bolted to the poles. It's easy to do now although those lags are expensive.
This is all adding up but hopefully it will last our tenure at this house. I figure that I need another 8-10 pieces of lumber. The 20 that I brought back are now cut up and lying on the stringers and there are another 5 in the backyard that also need cutting in half. Four more should do it and then another four would be used for the down pieces that stop the boat from going under the dock at low tide, if it's floating.
All this leaves one section of dock untouched, the section with the sink and benches. I'll have to decide on whether to do that section or not. I might just get it over with although that would probably be after the New Year.
Late in the day we were chatting with Debbie and Harris and decided to go out to dinner, spur of the moment. We went to Off the Hook, which is always good.
I heard from MTO that Al's piles of material are still in the turnaround and the snowplow was having difficulty. They still don't have their permit from MNR even though it's been three months in the process. I added my voice to plead with MNR to get this done but one way or the other those piles probably have to be moved next week or they will be unmoveable. I'm not sure if the contractor would even want to do any of this work with the snow on the ground, although I'm not sure how much snow is actually there. Obviously there has been enough to necessitate the plow ...
Today is Thanksgiving here in the USofA. Most stores are closed. Tomorrow is the big shopping day but you won't find us queued up for the specials but I might be going to HD for lumber ... doubt if that will be on sale !
Cassie must have pulled something in her mad racing around yesterday because she was walking with a limp at the end of the day. We kept her quiet for the afternoon and will do the same today although she will be outside with me, "helping" me work on the dock.
Onward ?
