Nov 5 - dinner

Of course there's more from the 4th.  I went over to do my bloodwork labs and it always takes a long time.  Figure 45 minutes for paperwork and 15 minutes for medical work -- and why do we think that the US Healthcare system costs so much ?

Blood letting itself was problematic.  The nurse couldn't find a vein in either arm but tried the left anyway, got what she called a "flash", i.e. a little spurt. She ended up taking blood from the back of my right hand.  Was I low on blood yesterday ?

Actually I might have been low on blood volume.  Looking at the initial results through on my labs, my sodium is a little low, BUN (blood urea nitrogen) was quite high, indicating dehydration which makes sense given the heat of the day before during my ride.

--------

All the results are in.  Dr. Keller will no doubt question the ketones in the urine, a product of fat burning.  She may also be concerned with the BUN and might want to re-test after a couple of days off the bike.

Bad cholesterol is up a small bit but good cholesterol is huge, no doubt a result of additional oil in my diet as well as that daily avocado.  It's interesting that two eggs every morning for the past six months made almost no difference.  Very interesting.

My overall cholesterol is actually lower than when I started with Dr. Keller.  The Bert Fish website allows you to see the history of each reading, so I don't need my paper copy any more.  Their history goes back to 2010.

PSA is a steady 0.4, which is the number that Dr. Gundian will be looking at.

Lisa arrived at 4:15, per the plan.  We briefed her on caring for Cassie and headed out.  She survived; we survived.

Dinner was definitely the highlight of the day.  We got to Disney quite early; there was a little slowdown on I4 but not too bad.  The signage for the Animal Kingdom Lodge wasn't very good; the African name in big print and Animal Kingdom Lodge in small print.  We sailed past, got to one of the outlying lodges, turned around, left the park, stopped at the gate again and asked directions -- right at the stop sign -- and headed into a parking lot.  Lo and behold -- yes, Jason and Lo and Kim -- they were just parking -- and we headed in together.
No wonder we didn't recognize the way in.  We were thinking of Fort Wilderness or whatever it's called.  We had been to this lodge to drop off Sandy's friend Sue and her husband but hadn't eaten here.  It's quite a neat resort.

We found a bar and had a drink, heading down to the restaurant when our thingy buzzed.

Boma is buffet style.  Excellent food !  Kim was right, I filled myself up.  There were too many highlights of the buffet to mention and the other problem is that I don't remember the names !   The roast beef, the so-called tapanade with salmon, the eggplant mixture, salads (Kool Slaw - love that one), soups ... a huge selection.  When we were heading out close to 10pm the buffet was just as full as when we came in.  Late arrivals were treated to the exact same selection, and a fresh selection at that, as we were.

We pulled out of the parking lot at 10pm and were home at 11:20.  Given the lateness of the hour, I opted for I4 to SR44 rather than my usual 528/I95.  It was busy as usual but no slow downs.

Whether we catch up with the gang again before they head north remains to be seen.  We just might make it over to Disney again.

Oh yes; I'm still full from dinner !

Onward !
