Nov 4 - more deliveries

Fedex, UPS, USPS ... deliveries from all of them every day, it seems.   Orders from Aaron, orders from me, our shopping is catching up.  I've now got a box of stuff awaiting the trip north, everything from CO detectors to the water detector / water shutoff switch, Sep-to-bac, you name it.  Also delivered were oil, oil filters and air and cabin filters for the X5 (none of which are available at the local store), a new pair of running shoes,  a refurb Roku 2 that I setup last night / this morning (more on that later), a set of watch tools, AA, AAA and CR2032 batteries, little clamps for the drip sprinkler system, etc. etc.  Some of these are inexpensive (10 clamps for $1.50), some are expensive (water detector switch).

The set of watch tools includes everything for opening watches and replacing batteries as well as removing links, so yes, I now have the new watch installed on my arm.  $15 one time for the toolset vs $20+ each time at the jeweler and wait a couple of weeks -- why not ?   In the meantime I had found another band for the old Tag and it's on the way from Taiwan.  Knowing that those bands last me less than a year ... well, the new watch has been inevitable for some time !

The refurb Roku was much less expensive than the latest and greatest.  The advantage of the Roku over the Sony Blu-Ray player is that it will maintain your position with the Plex server.  The Sony relies on the service, eg. Netflix, to do this.

I did run into a problem with the Roku, however.  The first unit that I setup was up north ... and is still up north.  At the time I setup that Roku account, my IP Address was Canadian, so it knew I was in Canada and only shows me services available in Canada.  When I setup the one down here, using the same account, it doesn't want to show me the US based services.  Netflix is ok because it's in both places; Amazon not so much.  After a chat session with the Roku support people, I found out that the only way was to setup a separate account, which I have now done.  Getting the player switched over was a matter of doing a factory reset ... a bit of a pain but necessary.

I went over to Bert Fish and did my labs first thing in the morning, having fed Cassie but not me.  When I got home, Sandy went to the gym, her first session with Jessica this year.  I need to get going on weight training as well ... soon.  It's difficult now with Cassie.  What I need to start doing is what I did this morning, get up without Cassie, do my thing and then get her up.  She's now at the stage where she can be left in her crate for a while without a fuss.

This is a dog that a) loves to retrieve; b) loves to dig; c) loves toys -- finds squeakers as quickly as Abby; d) loves to sit on my lap (comes and asks to be lifted up); e) loves her food (bounces off the floor, all four feet); f) is a peeing and pooping machine; g) is getting very leggy, growing quickly, and developing bloomers already as the outer fur is growing; on and on.

Below is a picture with Stef when she was just 8 weeks old.   A very good picture of both of them !

Now at 10 weeks, she's developing a definite personality !  The kitchen floor is strewn with toys.

She has this cocked head look ... I'm sitting on the floor with her, holding the SLR  pointing at her ... not quite a selfie, more like a doggie :).

Oh yes, another delivery ... a bag of tennis balls !  We need them in the boat and up north,

As you might have guessed, our lives, at this point, revolve around Cassie.  Even as I was typing this I had to stop and lift her up into my lap.  Her head is now on the counter (shudder) and the laptop in front of me.

I think that I smell more like dog than she does !

Puppy-ward ...
