Dec 6 - finally finished ?

Are we there yet ?  Is it finished ?  Are we tired of reading about the dock/deck ?

It's finished, or at least as finished as it's going to be no and perhaps forever.  There's another section of railing that I could do -- there was no railing there before -- and I have the leftover wood -- but I'm stopping at this point.  If I do any more it's because I'm annoyed at the leftover wood that's in the way.  Even the tools are packed up.

I took Cassie for a short boat ride but it was really rough.  I was also having trouble with the motor but knew what the issue was -- a crimped fuel line.  I need to replace the fuel line.  The bouncing in the waves had the fuel tank crimping the line.

I realized that the Whaler up north is in the barn.  This would have been the year, if there is no ice, to have that boat in the boathouse.  I guess that I could always take out the Bayliner, but that's more difficult without having a dock right there ... I think ...

There seems to be something wrong with the MNR real-time lake level website, which is producing a straight horizontal and vertical line.  I expect that the water is low but really don't know.  I suppose that with low water and no ice, I could drill some holes in rocks in the cove and winch them out of the way ...whoops ...they'd be under the dock right now ...

I keep checking the weather in Loring, hoping for no snow, at this point, since I'll have that tree to move.  One week from today we hit the road.

Sandy and Marda went out grocery shopping at one point, picking up dinner -- shrimp.  Otherwise they hung out chatting, enjoying the great weather.  Cassie was really making a nuisance of herself all day whenever in Marda's presence -- "off" and "no" were frequently heard as she was always wanting to jump up, whether Marda was sitting or standing.   It's a tough life being a puppy.

In other news ... not much.  As I mentioned, the weather is amazing.  The daytime highs don't go below 70 in the next 10 days and one day has a high of 78.  That's really amazing for December.

This week's to-do's:

- snow tires (right ? seems stupid at this point)
- pick up 25 hp motor from marina
- two Randonneurs Ontario conference calls, tonight and Wednesday night
- do RO year end !  that means spending some time upstairs, hopefully it won't take long
- get out for a bike ride or two
- two chiro appointments, today and Wednesday
- go to Disney for dinner tomorrow (Tuesday) night (Sandy and Marda are going for the day).  Jessica is looking after Cassie since Lisa is in the middle of exams
- is that it ?

The 25 Merc is a problem right now because it has all the controls attached.  Not only does it have all the controls attached, but it still has the console with steering wheel attached that they removed from the boat.  I guess that my best bet is to take the trailer over there and then back here I can take all that apart and decide what to keep.

I think that's it but I'll probably think of other things.

I'd ordered some sanding disks from Amazon for Stef which were cheaper here in the US.  The delivery supposedly happened on Sunday along with something else, two packages.  The one package, however, was an indoor/outdoor thermometer that I hadn't ordered ... or at least I didn't think that I'd ordered.  I double checked the name on the delivery (David Thompson) thinking that perhaps it was Dave Thompson which would be an order for Aaron -- no -- and then my Amazon orders -- no, didn't order that (I had some things in my wish list and wondered if I'd ordered this by accident, but no) and then the actual order reference number on the label against the reference number online.  Sure enough, it was the same order reference number.

Well, how do I return an item when it's not the item ?  For some reason that wasn't jumping out at me.  I checked with Sara, my help-line for Amazon questions :) -- and she directed me to the returns menu where, sure enough, wrong item was one of the options.

Long story short, issue the return, link from Amazon allows you to print a label, because it's a return/replacement, Amazon has already shipped the replacement.  I now have to get the box that's sitting beside me with a label over to the UPS depot at the SR44 Publix Mall.  If I had something coming via UPS in the next couple of days I would simply leave it for the driver to pick up but most orders come in via USPS.

Onward ?  Time for breakfast for me and Cassie.
