Another day goes by ...
I went to the gym, but I already mentioned that. I went today too ... that's two in a row ... I'm on a roll !
I went to the Chiro, not sure if this maintenance is achieving anything but I'll continue for now. Of course she found some muscles tight from the gym work and that will only get worse.
I setup an appointment with the Jewett ortho in Orlando who is a food/ankle sports specialist. That's more in line with the kind of person that I am looking for, not an old people bunion specialist :).
The surveyor came, and two of them worked for a half day. He's basically confirmed the lot line that the contractor found on the north side and pin-pointed the line on the south side. That will give us a better feeling about the work that we're planning, i.e. that we're on our own land. This survey won't be officially filed; I asked that question; for private records only.
Cassie got two walks. It was cool. The furnace is in heat mode. 44F this morning outside; 67F inside.
I caught up with Paul again on the CS1200k, going over his discussions with the hotel. I also asked him a couple of questions that I'd forgotten to ask in earlier conversations -- 1) how did Sally and Joe (his kids) like being in the RUSA quarterly magazine ... loved it ! . That was from my article written about the Sunshine 1200k 2) how does he like his Tesla ... well, I figured that I knew the answer to that one -- GREAT -- they even took a family trip with it to the Carolinas. Apparently there re these 400 amp charging stations strategically located so that he can make a trip like that. It will go from 0% to 70% in about 20 minutes. He has a 250 mile range from 100% to 0%, give or take. He says that the car sounds like a jet engine when that 400 amp charger is employed, with all the cooling fans running.
As for my batteries, when we left in December, I'd plugged in the Battery Minder on the Harley, the M5 and the boat, as usual. The charging light didn't come on for the Harley and I thought that was odd but didn't have time to investigate. I'd figured that there was something wrong with the light.
When we returned, I tried a different charger, still no light. Hmm. Ok, must be the battery or something. I checked the voltage at the charger connection and nada; nothing. Ok, I then removed the battery cover and sure enough the fuse was tripped and I could see why -- the wire was shorted, had touched something hot and melted. So ... rather than pull the battery and replace the wires, I did some cutting and soldering and fixed same. It's now charging and I see this a.m. that it was fully charged overnight. That's not unexpected as it's not really hot out and the battery wouldn't have discharged much in a month.
The M5, on the other hand, needs to be kept connected when we go away. There are some electronics in that car that stay alive and can seriously deplete a battery in a month, shortening its life.
I also did a little clean-up on that side of the garage. Now that I used a couple of cases of oil that were in the way, doing the oil change on the X5, I could put some stuff away. Next I have to sort through all the paint and go to the appropriate dump to dispose of that. It's a good sized garage if I keep things organized !
Today we're supposed to have dinner at Disney with Jason, Lorraine and another couple (forget which). Sheryl and Jim are going to have the pleasure of looking after Cassie.
Onward !
