Cassie got a boat ride and a walk. I worked on some cycling routes for Randonneurs Ontario. Sandy made a trip to Daytona Beach to check on something for Sara that turned out to be out of stock ... par for the course for Walmart !
Sandy had a long catch-up call with Joyce.
I got rid of the old kitchen stools that Riley & Dolly had left with the house. They'd been stored up high in the garage since we did the renovation and, since I was looking for a place to store the stroller, they ended up at the end of the driveway. Not for long though; Debbie and Harris took them for their downstairs area. They squeak a little and there aren't enough of them for our new setup; not sure that I'd have ever bothered getting them down for a larger crowd. They now have a good home.
I did a little more tidy-up in the garage but we have so much stuff accumulated that will will head north -- motor oil, outboard motor etc. etc. that it's difficult to move. I really have to get at listing some stuff on eBay to clear cardboard boxes, misc biking gear in the garage, DVD's upstairs ...
We had pompano for dinner, excellent.
Oh yes, I was coming to the conclusion that we were running too tight for comfort with the work planned for the backyard and that we should really hold off until the Fall. I emailed Shane and he agreed. Not only did he agree, but it was clear that he never expected to get it done this Spring. When was he going to break that news to us ? We're not altogether happy with him ... always too busy to really pay attention ... doesn't know the products out of a small range ... but does do the best work in the area. There's the rub.
So ... I made a trip to HD to pick up a couple of fittings and did some gas plumbing, making the setup more permanent and going back to a setup where I could plug in both the grill and the patio heater (used once or twice). In this context "plug in" means gas quick disconnects.
Today we're going boating with Sheryl, Jim, Melanie and Brian. With a little luck the weather will hold, but I haven't checked it this a.m. We're moving into the hot season -- 69F this a.m. and humid -- the Intracoastal Waterway heats up and the outside temperature soars.
Tomorrow Carol & Alister arrive for a few days.
Onward !
