This was and will be the main story for this week. Jim Brendel, here to do some inside work with respect to the new windows, helped me pull the trailer onto the driveway. Before that, I'd emptied it of snow tires and other stuff. I then maneuvered it into the garage to load the 25 Merc. Sandy helped me lift that into the trailer.
I made a run to Home Depot to pick up some screw eyes, which I affixed to the floor of the trailer and secured the Merc. I think that I'll do another pair to ensure that it cannot move. It's worth a lot less than the bikes that will be on both sides of it and I don't want it smashing against them.
With some moving blankets on top of it, I can then load a storage bin and some boxes, also tying them down to the floor. I know from experience how things can move around in trailers over a long distance.
For now the trailer is in the garage. It will stay there until I'm ready to roll, unless I do a trial run around the neighborhood to see if the motor stays put. I may do that Thursday. Friday is our day to roll out.
While out at HD, I stopped at Serene to talk about the contract. I've nit-picked it and they're ok with my changes. I'm anal about contracts. For example, I don't want a 2x2 sign in the yard from now until project completion .... the contract is written assuming that the job is about to start.
Today is yet to be written. I will see Jessica shortly and hopefully get out for a bike ride. I'll do some more work in the trailer. I've also packed up much of the stuff that had been gathering in my closet for the trip, making notes of items to declare at the border.
Jim finished up his inside work. I'd hoped to do my part, drywall finishing, but I've run out of time. It will wait until the Fall.
We were supposed to have dinner with Harris and Debbie but he has a dental problem and wasn't eating. We're both busy the rest of the week so this isn't going to work out.
Onward !
