May 11 - still waiting

The headtube extension was supposed to be delivered by 8pm but it wasn't.  Fedex excuse is that it was too late getting it to Portland shipping, which is probably correct.  So ... tonight I will be assembling the Litespeed unless I put the old fork in just to be able to pack the bike in the trailer.  The compression plug, which was missing, was sent priority mail and will likely beat the extension.

Oh well.  C'est la vie, said I as I had another sip of wine and saw that Fedex had changed the expected delivery date.  I should have known better !

I rode yesterday, cross windy as usual.  It will be good to get up north (perhaps !) for rides there that at least combine some hills with wind.  That said, on the day we expect to arrive, i.e. Sunday, it's going down to 29F.  Can you believe that on May 11 it was 73 in  Loring, 80's in New Smyrna and in the low 60's in Reading.  That blip doesn't last though !

So, yes, our travel plans are pretty much set -- leave Friday a.m. and get to the cottage on Sunday.  Along the way we'll motel somewhere and stop in Brantford and Barrie ... at least that's the current plan !

Today & early Friday I will be busy ...

- sign contract with Serene
- Walmart
- pet store
- bank
- email some stuff to Miglia organizers
- finish computer backups
- pull and pack satellite receiver
- change oil in X5
- pack dog food, bed, other stuff
- turn off water heater, gas, water supply
- turn on alarm
- close shutters
- pull vonage voip box
- pack hard drives
- saran toilets
- bring pink crate

This isn't a complete list, just what's on a piece of paper in front of me.

Add to that the work on the bike, oh by the way, so that it will go in the trailer and undoubtedly other things that come up as I organize to go ..

Oh yes, pack clothes, civies and bike stuff ... other misc items in my closet that are ready to go.  Somehow figure out how I can pack all this stuff in the car.  The trailer is full, so much so that the bikes will only fit in a certain way and I have to pull the pedals to conserve width !

Sandy has house cleaning, personal packing, hair appointment, etc.  She won't be sitting around.  In fact, I could probably pull the satellite receiver now and its absence wouldn't be noticed !

We'll be eating at the SYC since Sandy gets home late from her hair appointment.

Cassie doesn't know what's ahead of her.  At this point Abby would have been anxious, sensing all the packing, knowing that something was about to happen, concerned that she might be left behind.

Onward !
