We were a little slow getting out of Beckley, due to our late arrival the night before. That got us into Brantford just about 6pm, my ideal stop time for these all-day drives. If I'm by myself, I'll go from rest stop to rest stop and snooze but with Sandy, I like to stop and have dinner, relax a little before a good night's sleep.
In this case, that dinner was Indian Food at their wonderful little local joint almost within walking distance. Almost, but it's cold here in the Great White North !. All made fresh to order, it's a little Indian Oasis. Gavin and Amanda also came in from Toronto, so we were a gang !
At the border, the queue was short but the agent asked every question on the fly-in form, right down to how much cash. Usually they will ask about items being brought in but not total value ... not this time. I listed some items and total value, he asked about the used outboard motor, he gave me a slip and sent me inside. Once inside, the lady kind-of wrinkled her nose at my list, that included some $10 items, asked about the surge protectors, asked about the 16-17 year old outboard motor and then told me to have a nice day, in other words, no taxes; no duty. She exercised discretion; the CBSA fellow at the booth did not. Interesting.
It was a driving day that was easy on the eyes. We had clouds and rain most of the day. At one interlude, we stopped to let Cassie out at a rest stop.
Being her second day in the car and used to being active, she was crazy at Jason's, running and fetching outside and crazy inside. I'm sure that if we spent much more time here with such a bouncy dog, we'd overstay our welcome, or at least Cassie would !
Today ... Mass this a.m. then onto Barrie, then some grocery shopping on the way then to the Cottage. I had checked the inside temperature yesterday and it was at 61F. It will warm up quickly with the outside temp above freezing; warm and cozy with the fire.
Sandy didn't catch the shot with Cassie's head on my shoulder, but close. I'd eaten some cheese and given her a small piece ... does she love me or the cheese ? More likely the latter !
Onward !
