May 13 - a long day

We didn't get away until 10am; lots to do when closing up.  Saran on the toilets, shutters, finish packing the car ... it goes on and on and nothing takes much time but it all adds up.

Then it became a 12 hour drive.  I'm not sure why that is; we didn't stop much or for long.  We did get stopped just one mile into VA on the climb up the mountain for a major accident.  That was dead stop for about 35 minutes.  Earlier we'd seen three fire trucks and an ambulance take a roundabout route, likely getting ahead of the problem and coming back down the road.  We knew that we could be there for hours, but thankfully it cleared.  We saw a three-wheel motorcycle on a flatbed and that was it.  Who knows.

Ruby Tuesday is open until 11pm on Friday, which is a good thing.  We went straight there and had dinner before checking in to The Country Inn and Suites nearby.  We ate well, had a chance to relax, and it was after midnight by the time we turned in.

Today we're a little slower than usual.  Cassie has done her thing outside and we are in the breakfast room.  We'll probably leave here by 8:30.

Onward ... into the rain ... my shorts are in my bag ... it's cold up there in the Great White North.
