If I write it in my blog which much of the world can read, is it world famous ? That's like asking if the tree falls in the forest does it make a sound ...
I think that it's world famous if you could have seen it, so that covers anything that I write and basically anything on the internet.
On that basis, Sandy's finger-burner lamb ribs are world famous ... you knew that I was going somewhere with this ! Out of a couple of pounds of lamb ribs you get less than half of that in meat, once she trims the fat and we throw away the bones. Those little morsels are worth it, however. Delicious !
That was dinner. Mmmm.
It was a day for working in the yard. With rain due late in the day, Sandy raked and raked and raked; I loaded up the trailer and dumped them up at the burn pile. Finally getting frustrated by how little I could carry per load, I added two-foot sides to the trailer, which makes quite a difference !
So the burn pile is now about 20 feet long by four feet high; too big to burn ... duh. Perhaps if the rain had actually hit us, the surrounding area would be damp enough to do the burning but we only got a few drops. Oh well, it's not going anywhere. I can always load the stuff up and take it to the end of the road. It will take fewer trips now that the sides are on the trailer.
First thing in the morning, again with that rain in mind, I weed-whacked the side yard / hill. The area looks positively well kept, if I do say so myself. I love the Stihl whacker that I bought last year. It works.
David and Vanda made a trip into town, bringing back some adult beverages. We all took turns in the gazebo, getting out of our bug jackets and enjoying the freedom from the black flies.
Around 6pm we are all gathered said gazebo, all save Amanda. Sandy and I, Jason and Lorraine, Kyle, Gavin, Kim, Barry, David and Vanda ... any more people and we'd have had to remove the table to provide seating area. The wind came up, we felt a few drops, but that was it. No rain. Good.
The black flies may be, may be, easing up. Certainly all the raking, removal of night-time bedding area for the critters, might have helped. That said, you can't exactly relax in the sun quite yet.
Cassie was a little better behaved, perhaps getting used to the hubub, and boy was there hubub. Four dogs -- a veritable pack -- with her and Chili, Noodles and Barry's Peaches (or Peach), a Cockapoo. They ran around together having a great time. Cassie got lots of swimming, loving the fetch game. It will be interesting to see how she behaves once people are in the water, but with the water at 58F, that's not happening just yet.
Carters, Brooks, Redicks (sp?), us, Davies, Donnie, people at the point -- are all in. No one at the former Robinson cottage, Simms or Sandy next door to them (I think that's the name), no Sherar. I've got to check with Al and Sandra to see out of curiosity what's happening with their permits, driveway & construction.
I think that's about it. Another great day is ahead of us.
