I played around a bit more with the Xplornet dish; the attenuation stays around 14, which is better than it was but still too close to where it would cause us problems. I may or may not tinker with it some more.
I was downstairs and noticed that the receiver there wasn't getting a satellite signal so I made several trips up and down the outside stairs and up and down the inside stairs, trying to determine which cable was giving me trouble. I'd done some juggling and supposedly attached the downstairs dish to a non-working cable. I have a spare running from the dishes to the basement and up into the den closet so I could utilize that one. In fact, I have two spares as the old modem used two cables and I rewired to put in the new.
However, I finally concluded that it wasn't a cable, it was one of the four attachment points at the dish. I'll have to talk to Shaw and see what they say about replacing the LNB part of the dish.
Earlier in the day I went in Sudbury, hitting Costco, Tarini's and Bulk Barn. There were a couple of veggie items that I'd missed but didn't feel like adding another stop. Sandy will pick those up on the way back from Toronto.
Speaking of which ... Sandy left a little after me; agenda for the day being shopping at Sherway and meeting up with Bob Macleod to hand over the 600k drop bags and then dinner & staying with Joyce. Today, Thursday, she's got a hair appointment, dental cleaning and ballet. She'll be back at Joyce's tonight and home tomorrow with a grocery stop along the way.
Cassie rode around with me on my shopping trip. Yes, I was leaving a dog in the car. Yes, I left all the windows open. Yes, I could get into trouble even though she was more at risk of being cold than hot.
Speaking of which ... 39F when I got up this morning ... brrr!! What's the world coming to ?
Jason et al head home after dinner today. We won't see them again until after they're back from their European cruise and we're home from Reading/NYC/Seattle, sometime early July.
Onward !
