We did get a few things done yesterday. I'd deliberately left the medium ladder out after the work on the satellite dish so that I could tackle the upper eves troughs / gutters. I did that and put away the ladder. David and Vanda filled the wood box close to the house; that didn't take long as it was still half-full from last year. At this rate I'll have wood forever !
Then it was time to get the boat going. David was first up and the ski-tow rope broke ! So ... I borrowed Jason's. I can't believe that the rope broke ! He was up the next time and had a good ski-around. Jeffrey was next, couldn't make it up on one ski from either the dock or the water, went up on two and dropped one and had a short spin around. Vanda next, on two skis -- also borrowed from Jason -- up out of the water first try.
Ok, it was time for the old man. First try, off the dock -- nope. Second, third, and over and over again from the water, nope. There were a couple of close ones but close doesn't count. Argghhh. Ok, let's try two skis from the dock -- failure. Two skis from the water, up on the second try for a quick turnaround and drop the ski. I then discovered my real problem -- absolutely no glute strength. It seems that all my cycling focuses on quads and calves, no glute work. I had no strength or stability or perhaps I was tired from all those tries in the water ? Who knows. It took me a while to get my right foot into the stirrup behind and by then I was getting tired. I indicated that I wanted to go back, made a half-hearted couple of wake cross and called it a day. Yikes. I've got work to do ! I haven't been snow skiing either for three years now and it certainly shows !
Next up, Lauren and Emma on the good old, trusty old tube of ours. The Ski Biscuit is probably the last living one of its kind. We bought that in Mississauga for the pool so it must be at least 20 years old. Wow. Of course it hasn't had much abuse and hasn't even been used every year. It's stored in the boathouse, so it doesn't get the UV which would kill the rubber.
Sara was going to go tubing but had gotten too comfortable in the meantime. Jeffrey took Matthew and Zoe, separately, out on the 4-wheeler, putting around the yard.
What else ? I think that's it. Perhaps there's more but I don't remember and I've got to get organized to go to Sudbury.
Onward !
