Aug 28 - a note about prices

The prices are truly amazing.

Fabulous dinners the last two nights have come to 60 Euros or less. Four course meal at 25 each plus 3 for a half liter of decent house red wine - hard to beat. Autostrade tolls are a lot less than the 407, by a long shot. Cappuccino / espresso for 1.20 - 1.50 - compare that to Starbucks ! and better coffee to boot ! Fuel runs about 1.30 per liter about double what I'm paying in Ontario but the cars are more fuel efficient.

We've been paying about 130 per night at hotels, which includes a full breakfast. We could find accommodation under 100 if we wanted, half that if we really needed to economize.

Where we've been traveling the other tourists are almost 100% Italian. That said, we had a table of four Ausies next to us at breakfast this am. It will be interesting to see if it's any different in Sicily.
