So many great memories. Pictures can only jog those memories, comprising just a tiny fraction of what we saw and did, ate and drank. It was a wonderful trip.
The trip back to Eastern Time was uneventful, just as we would hope. I didn't have to spend 1/2 of the trip in the aircraft restroom this time, thank goodness ! That was horrible last year but memorable, part of the fabric of those memories.
We got to the airport early, but not as early as we might have thought. Leaving the hotel a little after 10 a.m. it was around noon when we were going through security. A little driving, very little, get gas, turn in the car, walk to the terminal with all that luggage on carts, up elevators, down elevators, check-in, loads of people, airport under construction, it all takes time. Past security we found a Ristorante, had some lunch, a farewell cheap 1/2 bottle of wine (3.50 in the airport, who can beat that ?), hung out, checked out duty free, bus to the aircraft (hate that, but oh well), an early departure and early arrival.
I texted Sheryl once we were on the ground -- 5:30 p.m. It was 6:30 when we were rolling out of the airport, which isn't too bad, all things considered - only 1/2 hour from our scheduled arrival. We had dinner at the Scores sports bar nearby (that has become a standard) -- it was great to partake of a salad bar, probably ate more veggies in that meal that I'd consumed over the past month ! (slight exaggeration, but not much !).
Back in Hemmingford, Cassie went crazy. I took her outside and around and around and around she ran, so excited. Of course hat didn't stop her from hanging with Jim when he had popcorn a little later -- we must keep our priorities straight, of course !
Today, we'll see. I stayed in bed as long as I could -- 3:15, having gone to bed a little after 10pm. That was 9:15 by my body clock.
I'm already missing my morning cappuccino. Even though Sandy left some of our good coffee here, it's like drinking Tim Hortons compared to what we had in Italy .... well, nowhere near that, but you get the idea.
Onward !
