Sep 12 - back up north

Jim and Sheryl were heading to a golfing outing for the day through dinner, so we opted to head out.  Cassie wasn't going to let us get out of the house without her; she knew that something was up.  Of course packing her crate and food might have been a clue, but I think that she just knew from the packing activity in general.

It was an easy drive and we made it here before 6pm - before the westward sun was below my visor, thank goodness.  Driving 522 can be a real pain after that. There were some busy spots, but not much.  We stopped in Deep River for fuel and Sandy dug into the Caprese sandwich that we bought in Venice airport.  I skipped lunch and felt better for it.

After fueling up, the fuel gauge, which had read 1/8 with the "range" reading 60, continued to count down.  I stopped shortly after and turned off the engine and then on again, which other times had fixed this, but it didn't.  I continued to watch the fuel gauge and the range drop until the needle buried itself and the counter went from "1" to "-----".  The car kept running, naturally.  If this didn't correct itself it would be a real pain to not have a working fuel gauge.

We stopped about 60 kms later in Mattawa at the Foodland, to pick up some necessities (eggs, milk etc.) and the longer stop did the trick.  Something is sticking or perhaps it's an electronics issue, not sure.  There are three fuel compartments -- left, center and right -- that show up when I do the dash display, which is prompted by entering a series of things at the reset button; would have to look this up to see it again.  I'll do that and keep a note in the car so that the next time this happens, I can see those readings.

Everything was ship-shape here, no issues that I can see.  It took a while to unload and then we relaxed outside for a bit, had a glass of wine and then had dinner.

I managed to sleep until after 4am this morning and Sandy is still sleeping (6 am now) so we're well on the way to adjusting back to our home time zone.

Onward !
