I had a number of chores to do and still have a number of chores to do :).
The bike is mostly together. I'll finish that off today and take it for a test ride. I'm not sure what to do about the brakes -- there is a lot of pad left but they squeak like crazy. I'll play around with them, increase the toe-in, to see if I can eliminate that. I've greased the steerer/headset to see if that creak can be eliminated. Otherwise, it's all pretty standard assembly.
I'd been keeping the cfl.rr.com email accumulation clean, deleting stuff that I don't keep, pictures etc. awaiting download by Outlook once home. I still maintain the two emails - outlook and gmail. Still, even though several hundred emails were deleted online through webmail as I kept it clean during the trip, there were 750 emails / 31mb to download, which takes quite some time with the slow connection here. Once I fired up the desktop pc, I started that process (this was before Sandy got up) and in a couple of hours was then able to file them all; I've got a number of folders ranging from randonneuring-related to roads board, trip etc. I keep most emails but do delete some categories such as messages from hotels looking for reviews (Sandy does those), routine spam reports etc. etc. In any given day I probably delete a couple of dozen emails, which doesn't count the ones that are caught by the pobox spam intercept.
Sandy went into Sudbury to get her toes done and pick up some veggies. She got caught in the rain. It had paused by the time she got home.
Cassie got some playing, fetching on land and in the water, before it started to rain in the afternoon. It poured heavily at one point but eased up to a drizzle by dinner time. Before the rain, Cassie and I went for a short boat ride in the Whaler. It badly needs power washing inside, which I hope to get to at some point.
I took the 4-wheeler to the end of the road to take a look at the new driveway being built by Al and Sandra, now that they have MNR permits in hand. It's quite the driveway, indeed. The blasting guys were there and they intended to start that day but they might have been delayed by the rain. I didn't hear or feel anything.
I did laundry -- two big loads. Sandy normally does my regular laundry while I take care of biking stuff, but it was just as easy to unload the suitcases into the laundry basket and get it over with. I'm sure that she'll be taking over the machines today.
I caught up with Jerry, Bonnie and Jason by telephone.
While Sandy was in Sudbury we exchanged a bunch of texts -- I'm liking this wifi calling feature except that it means that I should be carrying my cell phone with me at the cottage. Hmmm.
I exchanged FB messages with my niece Meagan (Philip's daughter) and we're set for dinner on Friday in Ottawa. I'll be meeting her fiance as well. I hope that I don't scare him off ! I'm too much like my father ...
There's still lots to do, but that will always be the case. This a.m. I've got to do some Randonneurs Ontario work, budgets for next year, and a few of us have a conference call this evening to go over it all and prep for the meeting on Sunday.
Onward !
