Sep 14 - boom !

Drilling and blasting were underway at the house on the point.  Cassie and I took the boat up and I saw that they were drilling where the cottage will be, I'm guessing.  I assume that they've already taken care of the driveway part.  I think that it's Fraser drill-blast doing the work -- he's the one who did ours.  I saw one of his branded trucks parked by Osprey & 522.  He's also been doing some of the work on Highway 69; he has signage there.  We heard a few distant "booms" over the course of the day.

It was a cool one, and even cooler this morning.  I see 43.9 out there right now; 70.7 in the house.  I may end up putting on a fire this morning.

I fussed some with the bike but didn't go out for a ride.  It was cloudy, windy and not so inviting.  I'll have to get out there this morning to test out my brake adjustments and assembly before I head to Ottawa tomorrow.  We had a conference call last night, reviewing my budgets prior to the Randonneurs Ontario meeting on Sunday.  I've got to finalize those today and send to Bob and Arthur.

I did go to Lost Channel Road to check out the work underway there.  Pat Martin had called to let me know.  The MTO was hard at work on the road.  I then went into Loring to pick up the mail.  I guess that I'll stop by tomorrow as well, seeing that I pass right by when they're open.  There won't likely be any more mail though.  We get very little mail of importance in Loring -- a few irregular magazines from CAA, Cottage Life and Opimian and a few bills in the spring -- snow plowing, taxes and dump.

Cassie got lots of fetching and some swimming.  She never tires but she does pause.

Sandy did her laundry yesterday; there was a line-full.  She discovered that she left a dress in some hotel in Italy; doesn't know which one and wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway, at this point.  She put on her hiking boots and walked to 522, encountering a black bear on the road who immediately ran the opposite way.  Unless you're at the dump and carrying garbage, they're not interested in you :).

We're more or less adjusted to the time zone.  I managed to sleep until after 4am today.  Sandy was up before 8am yesterday, but not much.  Our digestive systems are getting used to the simpler diet and less wine :).

Onward !
