Paid for our Agraturismo hotel, dinner and breakfast; didn't know what to expect ... 92 Euros for the lot ... great ! Can't beat that ! Personalized service too !
Picked up a bottle of wine at the grocery store that didn't have a price on it; didn't know what to expect ... 1.8 Euros ... and it's not bad ! It is a bit young tasting. Ok, after having the Primativo wine at dinner, I probably won't drink anymore of this 1.8 Euro wine ...
The drive went well, even found the hotel. The instructions were explicit, drive through the red light into the Piazza Castela, around the church to the front; hotel is across from the front of the church. Well, I walked through first to check it out, a grand total of a couple of hundred meters at most, then drove. The hotel submits the license plate to the authorities so that I don't get a ticket from the entry cameras. Deal is that you unload luggage and then follow a car to a remote parking lot and they shuttle you back -- the remote lot is gated and secure and ... free. Ok, I can deal with that.
We walked to a wine bar and had a drink, talked at length to a couple from Guernsey as we huddled under the umbrella as it had started to rain; the first in our trip. When it stopped, we went for a walk and found a grocery store where we bought wine for two (red and white) and some antipasto. Upon exciting, we found that it had started to pour. Sandy got her toes wet. That was the 1.8 Euro wine; Sandy's cost more :).

We had dinner at the hotel, which was great. That's where they had a bunch of 100% Primativo wines listed so I chose the one that was called "an everyday wine". It was wonderful. I could drink it every day :).
Today we'll explore the old Conversano, that mostly no-car-zone. Tomorrow we'll continue up the coast. Our time in Italy is dwindling.
Onward !
