Oct 29 - sprinkling

I basically spent the entire day working on the irrigation system, once Jason et al had left around 11am.  Prior to that we did go out in the boat, inspecting some of the sailboats pushed up into and onto the mangroves, just up the "river" from us.  I always have to put river in apostrophes because it's not really a river, it's an estuary.

There were several breaks in the irrigation system that I needed to fix; one head alongside the driveway that had obviously been driven over multiple times; a four-way split in one of the garden beds and a pipe in the other bed.  The latter two were damaged by Liz gardening.  The four way was a real pain as I had to cut and splice all four lines, two of them 3/4" and two 1/2" pipes.

I had to go to HD to pick up some irrigation parts -- elbows, couplings, the four-way, some 3/4" pipe -- all white PVC.  I also picked up some glue, just in case, which was a good thing because my glue was basically a lump in the can.

As for the new container of glue ... well, they go quickly when you spill 1/2 of it into the soil.  I'll need another soon !

There will be a lot of irrigation work when the yard work is underway.  I should really re-locate most of the heads, especially those around the driveway since they are right up against the concrete in most cases.  Guess what ... when they're that close they are just asking for someone to run them over, and they do.  Perhaps when the concrete is removed, I'll "just do it", as Nike would say.

So Jason, Lorraine and Kim are now at their place close to Disney.  We'll be seeing them Wednesday.  We've got a busy few days ahead of us -- ballet in Orlando today; dinner at Disney tomorrow, late lunch at Disney on Wednesday and ... the coup de gras ... backyard work starting on Monday and Disney later that day !  Yikes !

Yes, it's going to be a busy few weeks.

Onward !
