Oct 7 - somewhat spared

Apparently we did lose shingles, have some plywood exposed, and soffts, sucking some blown-in insulation out.  Our barbecue was blown over, and it's a heavy sucker so that's interesting.  The boat is still in place, which is amazing.

Time will tell whether we've taken in enough water to have some ceiling damage and we'll need a roofer ... good luck finding someone with time !  Perhaps I should pick up a bag of shingles but I have no idea how many I need.  I'll have to talk to Harris again today and get a more detailed assessment.

A limb was on top of one air conditioner, which Harris said that he would remove.

We don't have power yet, but that's not a big surprise since all of Volusia is without power.

Matthew is hitting SC right now; I95 is impassible.  We might have to divert to I75 towards Orlando, staying west of the carnage.  I'll check on alternate routings.

Here in the Great White North it was sunny and beautiful, hitting about 75F.  When I got up this morning it was 50F and is now down to 47 ... perhaps Matthew is sucking the warm air southward and pulling in good Canadian cold air.

I checked out the work at Al & Sandra's place, taking a couple of pictures.  Bob Troup and his daughter were at the top of the drive swatting black flies.  I chatted with them briefly, staying clear of any driveway discussion.  They won't have to worry about black flies today; they'll be back under cover with the temperature drop.  They weren't biting, just annoying.

There was boat traffic last night in the dark; typical long weekend stuff.

Sandy did some cooking, prepping for Thanksgiving dinner at Stef's.  She's bringing a few things.  I've got the trailer packed and have most of my clothes packed but those bags are here in the house.  I'll pack the car today to a certain extent but we have time tomorrow a.m. as well so no big rush.  Were it not for dinner tomorrow, we would already be on our way south.

I've got a few more things to do, like pumping up the tires in Sandy's car and getting it into the garage -- should have done that last night before it got rained on.  The barn is already organized; nothing to do there other than locking up.

I've got a choice of Mass either at 4:30 today or 10:30 tomorrow.  I'll check with Sandy and see what time she expects to be able to leave but going today is probably the best bet.

Onward ?
