Sep 30 - in the running

Ok, my candidate statement is in there; candidate for the Randonneurs USA (RUSA) Board.  Unlike Randonneurs Ontario, there's actually a beauty contest, aka election, with votes sent to the President by snail mail and email.  We'll see how this works out ... soon these should be up on the RUSA website and I'll have work to do contacting people.

The Cracker Swamp 1200k is two days into the pre-rde.  Paul and company finished the first day late, like 3am, a 23 hour day.  They started at 8:30 a.m. yesterday and finished around 1am.  I'd guess that they'll try and get out earlier today, perhaps 7am, but we'll see.

It was a relatively easy drive back yesterday, different route than we took heading down.  We hit Hornings Mills on the way, hoping to see Cassie's mother, but they've moved back to Newfoundland.  On the way back, we plugged Stayner into the Nav as an intermediate point and went right through Wasaga Beach.  Traffic was a little heavier on that route but less windy.  If we don't plug an intermediate point into the Nav, it takes us too close to Toronto.

We didn't stop, other than for diesel and at a Foodland to pick up some lunch.  My fuel gauge didn't register again.  When we stopped at the service center south of Parry Sound to top it off, I expected it to register, but nope.  I started rolling and then did a slow speed semi-hard brake in the parking lot ... yup, that did it.  So, it's a float that's sticking.  It's something that I'll just have to live with; too expensive to fix.

We didn't get out of Stratford until almost 10:30; the B&B services a family style breakfast at 9am.  They have a big long table - must have been 20 of us - and we talked about travels.  This was an upscale crowd, not the ones that you'd see at a Comfort Inn !  We'll see the CI people next week :).

We have just over a week here as we head to Stef's and southward Sunday next.  I've got to get cracking as there's a lot to do between now and then.

Onward !
