Oct 1 - getting ready

I'd originally planned on riding but with scattered showers out there, decided to do close-up chores instead.  Typically though, we didn't get any of those showers until I started the barbecue for dinner ... :).

I did get a lot done.  The Bayliner is now in its spot in the boathouse.  That would be easy except that it's about 1 foot too short.  I have to pull the boat right up to the winch and then use the jack and jack stands to lift the rear wheels on the carriage so that I can get the motor more vertical / not sticking out, to get the garage door down.

I suppose that I could consider modifying the carriage to be about 6 inches higher at the rear, but this is a once-per-year issue (well, twice because I have to use the jack to lower it in the Spring).

I took one of the little kayaks up to the rack in the barn; Sandy helped me get Aaron's up there and onto the rack.

Still not raining ... I pulled the 4x6 box trailer out and down to the driveway, ready for loading and then Sandy drove the car with the Whaler trailer down to the ESS Narrows while I drove the boat and we pulled it out of the water.  It's now in the barn but before the week is out, I'll give it a power washing.

Still not raining ... I gave the SUV an oil change and added 8 liters of DEF.

The Bayliner battery went into the 12' boat with the 25 Merc and that got some exercise yesterday.  I had to make sure that it was working because it's going to the ESS as well and will be pulled out on the Bayliner trailer.  I sure hope that works because the trailer is pretty big for that boat.  I'll make it work somehow.

That motor started first crank but then I had problems with the fuel line.  I fussed with that for quite a while thinking that somehow it was a problem with the bulb.  I finally found that somehow the coupling at the gas tank was damaged -- dang plastic things -- It's secure now but I'll be replacing it; pick up a new one over the winter.

That's pretty much it.  I've got to prep the power washer, chain saw and trimmer to come into the basement for the winter.  Boat batteries also come in.  I should also pull the Honda 4-wheeler battery; the 3-wheeler battery is still downstairs; that got no use this year at all.

There's lots of packing to do, obviously, and the gazebo needs to be wrapped.  Those are the big items.

I've started to send out campaigning emails but the notice isn't up on the RUSA site yet so I can't go whole hog yet.

Onward !
