Nov 11 - sandbar, plumbing

Jim, Gabby, Casse and I went over to the south causeway sandbar and the doggies had a great time.  Gabby didn't quite go into the water but she raced around.  Perhaps a few more times out there and she'll get the idea.  Cassie, of course, did lots of running and swimming.

By the time we got back, a little after 1pm, the guys were cleaning up for the day.  They needed more material to keep going plus we made a slight change and they want Eric's approval.  Ultimately it's our decision, of course, but I'd like his input.

In the front yard ... what a mess.  The bobcat made short work of our driveway and, in the process, electrical wiring and irrigation piping.  I've got my work cut out for me.  What's new.  Right now we have piles of soil and sand.  I thought that they would have dug out some soil, leveled that, then added sand but it's haphazard right now.  We'll see.  They need a significant depth of base under the pavers.

I started on the irrigation, which is a step by step process.  The irrigation piping runs anywhere from 6-18 inches underground at the sprinkler heads.  I need to move those heads back from the driveway by 8-12 inches.  Some are broken; most are not.  Dig down; dig along the pipe; cut pipe; glue in new riser or shorter section of pipe & riser.  It's slow going.  In other areas, fix broken pipes after first  figuring out where they should go, turn the water on, see where the new gusher is, fix that, repeat.

I got a few heads down, just down one side of the driveway.  There's probably another 10 to do; an easy day's work.

There's a junction box right at the garage door with a light sensor that turns on the post light.  The wiring from that to the post was simply buried in the ground, under the driveway in places and alongside the driveway in others.  That wiring was pulled up, of course, so now I'm going to run conduit.  That will need to be buried.  I can lay it out and have the guys bury it as they dig along the side of the driveway or bury it myself back from the driveway.  Alongside their curb might be the best bet -- they pour a curb beside the pavers to stop them from spreading out.

And ... there's the invisible fence wiring.  That too needs to go under the driveway.  I'm thinking that I'll run that inside conduit and I've picked up a couple of 500' spools of heavier gauge wire as well.  I'm assuming that the gauge doesn't matter ... hoping !

Yes, lots of work to do !

Onward !
