Nov 25 - Gavin and a christening, of sorts

Gavin's operation is over, by all accounts successful -- whew !!!  Apparently he immediately noticed an improvement in his hands, well immediately after he came to, that is.  Jason has been giving us the play-by-play.  Hopefully we can catch up with him live before the weekend is out.  He is supposed to go to Brantford on Monday.  I'm sure that he's in pain and uncomfortable, but will be happy that he's moving forward.

We used the new grill for the first time yesterday.  Wow.  Even flame.  No foot-high flames.  It also has a bigger cooking surface than the old so that I can grill beside the griddle.  There are three dividers down below so that you can better control the heat in the four areas of the grill.

... and ... and ... I don't have to light it with the blow torch !!

For the record, the first thing grilled was flounder.

I guess that it's time to put the old one out for the garbage.  The recyclers will grab it before the garbage truck ever gets here.

Earlier in the day I did some more finish up -- conduit inside the outdoor kitchen, but not quite finished, and buried the last of the dog wire.  I also picked up some wet location wire connectors and everything is now underground.

I need to support the conduit -- not that it's going anywhere -- and thought that an adhesive would hold some d-rings, but it didn't.  I'll have to come up with something else.  It may be that the surface of the concrete box inside was just too dusty and I need to drill a few tiny shallow & tiny holes and use epoxy.  I'll try something.

One last mini project remains (ok, so there are many); I have to support the one faucet that comes out of the ground on the north side of the deck.  I've told Sandy not to use it for now because pulling at it would break the pvc and we'd have a nice fountain.

burying the dog wire was a real chore, but it's done.  It's not much below the thatch of the roots but hopefully that will do the job.  Cassie is pretty wary of the flags, basically sticking to the backyard.  We'll leave it like that for now.

There are several areas that will need re-leveling after the New Year or rather, leveling because they weren't level in the first place.  There's also the row of wall block at the back of the south side of the garden that in my opinion is too high.  Even if I have to pay them a few hours wages to fix that to my liking, I'll do so.

Sandy wants a water feature in there so I'll dig up and insert that into the conduit running under the garden.  I should have done that in the first place, oh well.

What else ... Cassie got some running at the sandbar; Sandy spent most of the day working in the garden, which is looking very good.  It's time for the weeds to start growing again :).

I spent an hour with Henrik, my first massage with him.  He wants me to tell him how I feel today ... and the answer is ... no different.  Was I supposed to feel something ?  What should I expect ?
