Dec 11-13 - from walking to driving

The 11th was a crazy day, between getting in my last ride of the year and packing up, but it all worked out.  It was a long day.

There was still a lot to do on departure morning; as usual.  We hit the road around 8:30 and got to Beckley WV around 7.  As we drove the temperature dropped; just above freezing in Beckley.  Cassie was good in the car but clearly needed exercise which wasn't going to happen anytime soon !  We ate at Ruby Tuesday and opted to have Cassie wait for us in the car, vs the hotel room.  She's calm in the car, same as Abby.

Hitting the road on the 13th, the temperature continued to drop, but not much.  The first snowflakes were blowing in the wind as we drove into PA but the only ground accumulation was in Erie ... and Brantford ... nothing in Buffalo.

We sailed though the border; the fellow didn't even ask us about what we were bringing in, other than alcohol & tobacco; mace & firearms.  He did check our US passports to ensure that we had legal status in the US.  That begged the question -- what if we didn't ?  Would he report us to the US Authorities ?  Would they impound the car ?  Who knows.

Gavin is making good progress, getting around albeit with a very stiff neck.  What a relief. The stitches are out now from the back of his neck, removing one point of irritation.  All's good.

This a.m. we'll head to the cottage.  I'm hoping that our "electrical event" is easily recoverable and that we have telephone, internet, security and satellite ... time will tell !  Watch this space !

Onward !
