These conference calls make for long days as they run until well after 10pm and since I'm up at my usual time ...
So first off, I got a note from my urologist that the MRI was clean. I checked with Jason and his colonoscopy was clean. Old people talk about Dr's appointments; it's what we do.
It was a million email day. The RUSA Board members tend to send out updates on various activities just before the meeting. That's great but it's a lot for a newbie to absorb all at once but no one has had a real chance to read and process so the conference calls tend to be a rehash.
The RUSA president, Rob Hawks resigned -- we knew that was happening going in; no surprise, and lots of conversations had taken place; this was the formal step. He not only resigned as Pres, but also his Board position, which has 13 more months to run. Mark Thomas, an outgoing member, had been tasked with proposing someone to fill the slot, which is what is done when a vacancy happens and the board then votes on the replacement.
Paul, Nigel and I are newbies -- not only are we newbies, but our terms don't start until January 1. Of course that didn't stop me from jumping in a few times; I find it hard to keep my mouth shut. My family can attest to that ! I'm not really opinionated ... right.
