Mar 17 - some banking, some soffit

Running around, running around, but no soffit solution / conclusions yet.  Matching the existing color is the main issue; the design a minor issue; the profile seems to be no issue.

Down here at least, soffit comes in two distinct flavors -- aluminum and vinyl, like siding. We currently have vinyl with rectangular holes or rather pushed up strips that provide ventilation.  Most of the vinyl comes with simple circular perforations.  Aluminum comes in white and brown.  Vinyl comes in a vast number of colors with each manufacturer having a different subset.  There are slight differences in width, but that doesn't matter as they are cut to size to install.

So ... HD stocks circular perfs and the colors don't match.  Lowes stocks rectangular perfs, color (gray) is a little lighter than ours.  Oh wait, neither of them "stock" anything other than white and brown; other colors are special order so you end up with a minimum of 15-20 (depending on packaging) 12' pieces of soffit.  Oh wait ... yes wait ... 3-4 weeks for delivery.

Everywhere we went -- HD, Lowes etc. provided an address of yet another place that might have a better match.  We traipsed all over Daytona Beach.  Traffic was horrendous -- bike week, y'know.  No conclusions.  Stay tuned.  I have to decide on which compromise to elect.

I did get over to the bank, as Rhode Island had accepted and updated my filing for RUSA.  The new account has been opened and I have a debit card for that account.  I probably should have done the VISA card as well, but did not.

In the meantime, David and Vanda did the bike week thing, watching races at the Speedway, seeing Main Street etc.  They toured around on the Harley, of course, so they were "almost" in tune with the times.  Thong and chaps; a louder muffler; both of them 50 pounds heavier -- those things would have made them more part of the crowd.

Spyders like Jim & Sheryl's were everywhere.  Driving east on International Speedway Blvd we encountered a group of six, all with Quebec plates.  Je me souviens.

D&V will be heading out shortly, off to the Great White North, the fun over for this week at least, back to the grind on Monday.

Onward !
