Nov 17 - ferry and foot

It was another hop on, hop off (hoho) day.  This time it was with ferries.  The Sydney waterfront is really something.  Looking at a map you don't really get a sense of how much waterfront there really is.  You can get to much of it from the mainland, but ferry is faster - like Vancouver only on a grander scale.

The hoho bus didn't get us as far and there wasn't as much to see in the traffic of the city.  Along the waterfront is where the action is - dining, interesting shops and sights.

As usual, we walked from our hotel to the quay area.  After our ferrying, we walked back.  Then we walked back down to go to the meet and greet at an old pub.  Then we walked back.  Sandy's watch recorded lots of steps ... 10 miles in all.  That's a lot of walking !

I knew a handful of people at the pub -- Hamid's friend Wolfgang from Germany, Mark Thomas and Rick Blacker from Seattle, and Hamid.  Hamid is still awaiting half of his bike.  He splits it into two suitcases with clothing packed around.  Hopefully his second bag will arrive today, otherwise he's planning on borrowing a bike.  That's not a great solution but there's really no other choice.

I did laundry at one point yesterday; our serviced apartment has a washer and dryer.  I have to give up my suitcases early this afternoon, must be all packed and ready to roll.  Sandy will bring my drop-bag to the ride start tomorrow a.m., seeing the group off.  Although I'd like an earlier start than 6am, that certainly works out better for her.  Otherwise I'd somehow carry my bag to that point.

Why do I feel that I'm running out of time ... because I am !  I'll be leaving here about this time tomorrow morning, getting myself to the ride start at the Sydney Harbour Bridge / The Rocks.

Onward.
