Dec 3 - a little of this

Cassie got a boat ride; I had a long telephone conversation; the Harley got a little exercise; the X5 is DEF'd.  That about sums up the day.

I found that the boat battery needed charging; not sure why.  It has to be in tip-top shape for the starter to engage but this is a new battery and I was out with it just a couple of days ago.  At any rate, I've got the Minder on it now which is better at desulfate and full charge.  We'll see.

Talked to Dan for about 1.5 hours.  He was bending my ear (and vice versa) about RUSA awards and other topics such as our personal 2018 schedules.  He's thinking about Brazil in October; I've pretty much discounted Brazil.  He'd like to do a ride together but I'm not sure that we're compatible.  I like to do my relatively slow ride.  He's much faster and wants his sleep.

I took the Harley for a brief spin, long around-the-block.  I wanted it to warm up, which it did.  I should have really gone further but hadn't gotten out my helmet :).

I topped up the DEF in the X5, putting an entire 3.5 gallon into the tank.  Unfortunately there's no way of telling how close to full that might be (reserve tank is 6 gallons, I think) short of continue to fill until it overflows.  Then you know that it's full.  The active tank is about 1 gallon and the reserve is constantly topping up the active tank, unless, of course, the reserve tank is frozen and then you're using the active tank only and start getting warnings about distance you can drive before it won't start.  It could only get frozen up north, of course.

I'm trying to work out the plan for this week.  I'd have liked to get my 200k in today but have a Dr. Wendy appointment this a.m.   Perhaps I'll shoot for Wednesday.  Marda arrives on Wednesday.  The X5 is supposed to go in for passenger air bag replacement on Thursday but I could cancel if necessary or bump to Friday.

I'm working on service for our Samsung TV.  It appears that Amex might, just might, cover the extended warranty (Thanks Sheryl !), but that remains to be seen.  I've filed the claim with Amex and they want Samsung diagnosis, which they will pay for, so I've initiated that through online chat and then online service request.  Something else -- I'd turned the TV on and there was no picture; I moved the TV to check model number on the back and bingo the TV came on.  Was that a coincidence ?  Do I just need to kick it ?  Each time that I've turned the TV on since, it has come on immediately, so I can't test the "just kick it" potential solution.  Of course it will keep turning no immediately now, just to stymie any attempts to get a long term resolution.

Onward !
