May 20 - a good day's work

We all had a busy day !

David and Vanda did an amazing job raking the yard and taking it all to the end of the road.  Graham and Kim were doing the same thing next door.    Sandy cleaned chairs, using a little bleach to rid the chairs of a little green.  I decided to work on the car rather then the bike and tackled the brakes on the X5.

It was obvious once I pulled the left front wheel that I had a lot of life left in those brake pads.  I'd replaced them, and the rotors, when we got back from Kilimanjaro last year.  However, I obviously had not reset the maintenance counter because it said that I only had 4000 miles left on those pads.  I momentarily debated whether I should wait but then went ahead.  I'm here; the new pads are here; the rim is off ... let's get 'er done.  According to the maintenance counter, I can now rest easy for 31,000 miles.

The rear pads were another story altogether.  They too were at 4000 miles according to the counter.  I'm betting that within 4000 miles the sensor would have started to wear and I'd have had to replace that as well.  They too now have 31,000 miles before I need to worry about them.

I took the car for a test ride; all's ok.  Now my back is feeling the aftermath of slinging those wheels, but not as bad as I thought.

I've got rotors and pads for the front of Sandy's car; I haven't checked to see what the rears look like.  I should probably pick up some pads for the rear and do that at the same time.

We joined Jason & Lorraine in the gazebo late in the afternoon even though it was cool ... and then had our turf for dinner.  Another day, a productive day, was done.

It hit the low to mid 60's yesterday and today it looks like we'll add 10F to that.

Sandy has been walking the road each morning, accompanied by Cassie.  She's on a mission to get in shape for the Camino de Santiago trek.

Onward !
