That about sums it up. David, Vanda, the 4-wheeler and two jacks helped get the dock in place and then we launched the whaler as it was starting to rain lightly. It rained the rest of the day.
I gave the Litespeed some TLC - clean, new tires, chain and cassette. It's ready for some local riding and perhaps the 200k next weekend.
The new parts are ready for the True North and it's on the bike stand - rear derailleur, cassette, chain, chain rings, bottom bracket, brakes - might be forgetting something - haven't decided whether I'll do all that before or after the DC 1200k in 11 days time.
I talked to Hamid who DNFd the 1000 permanent checking out the first part of that 1200. Apart from the knee deep water and mud which jammed his shifting, it sounds like a brutal amount of climbing. It's got sections of the Shenandoah 1200 as well as a very slow start with commuter trails into the Washington Monument for a city tour. Ugh. Some of this I'd rather not know in advance.
Jason, Lorraine, Kim and Graham came in yesterday but K and G were still on their way up when J and L came over for a drink around 6pm. Cassie is very happy !
We had tuna for dinner, courtesy Costco. It was good. That was the surf. Tonight we'll have turf.
Onward !
