May 9 - clean as a whistle

Well, not a whistle exactly ... but a clean colonoscopy.  I was talking to Dr. Straker before they released Sandy, saying "you can't retire; you were supposed to look after me the rest of my life !" ... c'est la vie.  He's retiring earlier than expected, he said, something to do with family.  I asked him who else would want to deal with my "colon from hell" ?  and he said that he thought that's what he was going to encounter with Sandy but she was easy.  He had the family right, but not the person !

So that was that.  We left here at 5:15 am and were back before 9am.  Sandy did feel fatigued but did some gardening anyway.  We had dinner at the SYC with Debbie and Harris.  Debbie just got back from something like 18 days hiking the Camino.  She carried all her gear though; Sandy is taking the easy way out and I don't blame her.

I went for a bike ride.  I felt like a slug.

My right foot - the bad one - was hurting the other day and giving me numbness problems, so I thought that I'd change shoes.  My backup shoes, which were never all that comfortable, were ultra comfortable.  That's good because I'm running out of options !

I just got back from picking up my International Drivers Permit.  Apparently it's not really needed but Police can give you a hard time without one if you encounter any problems.  For $20, what the heck.  I already had the passport photos from the Brazil visa.

The trailer is out front; snow tires in the garage.  Jim and Joanne pulled out this morning; I waved good-bye.  Chet and Jean left before dawn.  The street will be quiet !

I put up the thumbscrew shutters up over the front door.  The others are easier.

More later ...
