Jul 17 - skiing ?

We saw skiers at the Stelvio pass but not yesterday as we took the gondola to Bormio 2000 (meters) and then the tram to 3000 meters. Bormio itself is at 1200 meters.

Riding up yesterday we were looking at the road below coming up to 2000 and I was thinking that it would be a nice 4-5% grade climb. Then Rick suggested that we do it this am, and we did, but it was 7-10%, in fact a good training climb and, at 800 meters up, about half of the climb from Bormio to the Stelvio Pass

Of course coming from the other side, the climb is a) longer and b) on the sixth day of a very strenuous ride.

So that accounts for part of today as well. In the morning, after breakfast, we had taken it easy, heading to the gondola around noon. We had drinks on the mountain as we reveled in the scenery, but no real food. We ate at the hotel again, a very reasonable 26 Euros each for a multi course Italian meal.

Onward !
