Jul 18 - finishing up the day

Hamid and Shab went exploring.  Apparently there's a little town about an hour away that's a duty free zone with tons of shopping etc. and a "border" check on the way out of town with purchase limits and the like.  They came back with purchases, wine, scotch etc. all at incredibly good prices.

We relaxed and generally caught up, sitting outside and enjoying the wonderful weather.  Once they were back, we walked over by the ski hill and found a little restaurant, sitting outside and feasting.  Pretty soon Hamid and I will be working that off with six days of riding ...

I checked all the openrunner files for the ride finding that two of them had been updated in July; the rest stagnant since January.  I downloaded those but got stalled trying to do something with them in ridewithgps.  Internet service is spotty ... this morning, getting the usual snappy early morning service (maybe it's the coffee ?), I looked at them and sure enough, the end of tappe (stage) 7 and the beginning of tappe 8 had changed; looks like the Control was relocated.  In general there aren't many routes through the mountains so changes, if they occur, are in the towns.  There are no "city tours" as Hamid and I called them, that were common in the Miglia and Roma rides.

We have a lot of mountains coming up; lots of ski lifts visible on ridewithgps.  One day at a time ...

7:30 a.m. now and internet service is slowing down ... dang.  In fact, it's basically stopped.  This is sooo frustrating.

Onward.
