Aug 21 - change of scenery

We spent the first couple of Tokyo days right in Shinjuku, like living in Times Square of NYC. Alternatively seedy and upscale, there were masses of people, bright lights, narrow streets, hotels that offer "rest", or "stay". During the day it was just busy. At night, very congested, the call girls were in evidence. Sandy found it claustrophobic. We've opted to change hotels.

The first hotel was adult only. Facilities for lovers would be the best description, right down to the amenity condoms. Spa tub, sauna, mood lighting and music - there was more technology evident than ... can't think of a comparator.

So we're now in an American-like hotel with 4-lane roadways. It could be almost anywhere. Hamid and Shab are one long subway stop away in a Marriott.

We took a taxi from the one hotel to the new. Shortly after, we were heading back to Shinjuku for lunch in the omoide area. Like street food, almost, we had some wonderful sushi and sashimi. I was still hungry and sampled a pork stew at another shop. They don't waste any of the pig. It was delicious !

We are now on the Shinkansen - bullet train - to Kyoto. It's fast but you really can't tell. This was Hamid's idea. Expensive !

Onward !
