Aug 23 - Kyoto etc

We took the bullet train to Kyoto - the Shinkansen - meeting Hamid and Shab at Shinagawa station where it departs.

I clocked about 275 kph with ridewithgps on my phone. On the way back we had a train that stopped a couple more times and ran about 250+ kph. A small difference for sure.

It was bloody hot. Sandy was trading just under 100F on her watch. Brutal. We didn't get anywhere near as much touring as we might have done. A couple of shrines, the bamboo forest, a tofu specialty restaurant lunch ... as usual, we filled the day.

We it worth the train ride ? Probably not. If I had to do it again, would I ? Yes.

We had dinner afterwards upstairs at the station.
