Sep 13 - so much fake news

Sorry, I can't help but think as I see the networks now talking about rescue efforts for all the people who didn't follow mandatory evacuation orders, that these people should be responsible for their own actions or lack thereof.   It's no wonder that some of these people stick around, after being pounded at day-after-day about fake news.  Well, guess what people, this isn't fake news.  Ok, enough of that.

I'm continuing to do some minor tidy-up in the garage and barn and basement.  I also squeezed in a 36 mile bike ride to and from highway 69.  That's as far as I've gone in local rides this year.  I was tempted to head south on 69 but didn't.  I may go out again today.

I haven't heard from Tony G yet about the Taste of Carolina 1200k that's supposed to start next Thursday.  He was planning on some rerouting but no word yet.  Going to the coast is probably out of the question.  It occurred to me yesterday that if he cancels, I'll have to get down to NY or MI to do a 200k permanent to continue my string of continuous months that is now approaching 10 years and a related award.  Had I thought about the fact that the ToC was my only planned September ride, I'd have done the Markham 200k last weekend.  The Mac & Cheese didn't count, as it started in August.

Jason and Lorraine arrived around wine time yesterday, unloaded their truck and came over for drinks and dinner.  Sandy did her now-famous lamb finger burners (ok, famous among a very small group of people).  They were delicious.  J&L are sticking around for today, Friday, and heading back to Toronto and Brantford tomorrow.  Kim wasn't with them, as she was attending a funeral; neither was Chili !

The weather is absolutely beautiful, hitting 80, predicted or 81 today and then 79 & 80 over the weekend.  David & Vanda and Vanda's parents are planning on being here for the weekend.

Onward !
