Jan 21 - we eat well

Borrowing from George Cederholm's FB posts "we eat well", I have to recount some of our eating pleasure from the last week.

Sandy busted her butt providing variety and catering to a number of different tastes.  Some of us (that's me) don't ever get bored and eat anything.  Sandy's gets bored cooking for me.  This past week, however, we had a very appreciative crowd.

Almost all of one day was spent preparing a veggie lasagna.  It was excellent.  Stef and Aaron ate it for dinner and lunch and dinner.  Another day we had Sandy's Mom's breakfast sausage, a dinner prep with a tomato-y sauce.  I've probably had it before but not forever. It reminds me of some of my own Mom's cooking -- both of these -- all day affairs.

Friday was her break, Tiki-time.  We came home from the Tiki to Sandy's World Famous Key Lime Pie.  Hey, since there's no one to dispute my "world famous", who cares ?

Saturday we had scallops, melt-in-your-mouth scallops ... drowned in butter :).  Sunday we had Tuna, one of our favorites.

And of course much wine was consumed !  Stef also sampled some local beers and left one for Jason, much to his delight.

When we went to Costco, I picked up cheese (the primary reason for the visit, first one in two years), some wine and a few other things.  I was hungry and came out with apple chips that haven't been opened, some so-so jerky (not spicy enough).  Of the wines, a Petite Syrah was quite reasonable; the Kirkland Gigondas is drinkable but a weak entry.  I think that there's another out there in the garage wine cellar that I haven't tried yet.  I bought two of each.

We had two unused Executive Membership Costco checks.  Luckily they don't expire.  They were "consumed" at the cash register.

Onward !
