More days go by. I keep thinking of updating my blog and then another day goes by.
I crossed that 100,000k threshold on Sunday. On Monday we finally got out for a boat ride. On Tuesday we went into Orlando to see Alvin Ailey.
The boat was dirty. I think that the last time that we used it was April. The fellow at the marina had rinsed it out but the passage of time was still evident. Salt, rust & grime. I did some wiping down but there's more to do with some car wash soap, rust stain remover and hull cleaner. The snaps on the two back cushions were rusted away ... I think that they were like that last spring, so nothing new. However, the issue is that they can blow out while we're driving at any speed. I went over yesterday and bought and installed new snaps; much cheaper than replacing cushions ! Our boat is on a lower level rack so I can work on it without having to take it off the rack.
It was a little hard starting, naturally. I didn't even try without removing the cowling and spraying some quick start. Removing the cowling, I broke off a piece at the top where there are vents. It's amazing how brittle that becomes even though it's stored inside. The other chore yesterday was using epoxy to fix that.
Alvin Ailey was great. Dinner was so-so. The menu at our usual sushi place had shrunk and horror of horrors; they didn't have wine. Sandy had some rose hard cider, didn't finish the bottle. I had a Stella, always reliable.
Sandy had gone into Orlando on Saturday to see some other ballet. The ballet was good, finding the car afterwards, not so good. She came to the Dr. Phillips Center from an unusual direction because she'd been to the Mall first. Short on time, she parked in a strange lot and rushed to the show. Her ticked didn't have the address of the lot and she had to try three parking lots to find the car. Well, some of us have had trouble finding our car in the lot but we usually know which lot we're in :).
Today the X5 goes in for the trailer hitch install; actually late today I'll drop the car off and they have a loaner for me. I'll go back late tomorrow and swap cars.
Onward !
