Mar 17 - back to three ...

or four, depending on whether you count Cassie !

Lauren is back home, or so we assume, since we haven't heard anything from Barrie, and there will be another trip to the airport today.  The five of us went to Clancy's for dinner last night, to celebrate St. Paddy's Day.  It was cool and windy so we didn't wander Flagler as we have in past years.  There was plenty of open seating in the outside venues !

I gassed up the boat, preparing for the next skiff outing, something that I can do on a drizzly day.  The big Wawa, located where the Kmart used to be, has ethanol free gas (as does our Marina), so I filled up the jerry can and the X5 at the same time; different fuel of course although I guess that it could have been the same ... If I was smart, I'd have oil in the jerry can and fill up at the Marina when I'm out with Cassie.  Even though my marina charges a little more for gas, I patronize them as much as possible because ultimately I'll pay more for storage if they're not making enough money.

I had a flurry of activity with the yacht club at the end of the week.  One of our rider's family (sister-in-law) passed away and she reached out to me to see if there was any possibility of holding a "celebration of life" at the SYC.  I wasn't even sure who handled these things so I stopped over there and checked with the office.  I traded messages with Gina Jones, the food and beverage manager (didn't know that before) and the rider and it sounds like they've settled things for a date in June.  This will run through my account, similar to what I've done with the Audax rides.  It's good business for the club and, for the family, I think that it's better than some nameless facility.  The rider had attended one of the Audax rides hosted at the club and apparently the family member had a boat, thus the suggestion of the yacht club.  She was only 59 ... another reminder of our short time here on Earth.

It will be a busy week.  Jerry arrives tomorrow; Michael and Karen overnight later in the week and then we go to Deland for Carmen on Sunday.  Jerry and I will do some riding and he'll have to fend for himself a bit, but he's used to that.  Jim and Sheryl (and Jenny) head home next Saturday.  With April almost here, it's hard to believe that winter is winding down.

April through September are pretty booked - Italy, Belgium, Slovenia, France etc - with lots of driving sandwiched in !

Onward ...
