One gone, down to zero grandchildren; one up, Jerry arriving for some riding.
The weather has deteriorated. In spite of that, Jerry and I got out for a couple of hours yesterday, riding between the rain drops. He had arrived in the a.m., having driven most of the way on Monday and from GA on Tuesday morning. He got here just after I returned from Publix.
Massive rain, wind etc. marks the Doppler even this morning. Hopefully we'll be able to get out today.
I hung up the Litespeed and rolled out on the True North. I had to check my tires because the change in feel going from the 28mm tires (that measure 25mm with my caliper) to 32mm is HUGE. Those tires soak up the small bumps in the pavement. Otherwise, the bikes are very similar in geometry. I wish that the Compass tires, 35mm & plus, were more puncture proof. They a) roll faster and b) are even more comfortable.
The bars are a bit narrower on the True North, my coupled rando bike, which I should really address. An extra 3/4" on each side is about the difference and that means more real estate for my hands. With my phone, spare light, Wahoo and Garmin up there, and leaving clearance so that each can be mounted and removed, room for my hands is limited. On the True North, a separate bar in front helps.
Today we expect to roll north. With a 19mph predicted wind and no doubt blowing stronger at ground level, that seems best !
Onward !
