My cousin Michael and his wife Karen arrived a little after noon on the 21st, as planned. Jerry and I had gone out that morning on the bikes; I turned around early but he was back here before them anyway. Yesterday we rode south with a tailwind (unusual) and back into a cross wind. It wasn't as bad as we'd expected.
With M&K we had lunch here, wandered Flagler, sat and chatted and had dinner at the SYC. That marked two nights in a row at the SYC - 7 of us had dinner the night before - Barb & Jerry; Jim and Joanne; Us; Gerry.
With the dinner in Toronto at Christmas and now, some time here, we've spent more time with Karen than we'd accumulated since their wedding in 81. As kids, I spent a lot of time with Michael but even into university, living in Toronto and going to UofT, I didn't see much of him. I was busy; he was in high school; time flies by. Michael is a few months younger than my sister Arlene, born in December and thus in the same year in school, three years younger than me.
They left at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, heading to a conference call that he was going to take from the airport and then their flight back to Toronto. He's on some Board of a UK-based charity and conf calls are at weird times, Eastern.
Today Gerry and I will do a 200k, take it easy tomorrow and then squeeze in as many of the brevet week rides as possible the early part of next week, hopefully 200, 300 & 400. I've already got my PBP qualifying 300 but what the heck; Gerry has nothing yet. Perhaps the first week of April, I'll get in the 600k. That might very well be by myself or with Paul; TBD.
Onward !
