Jun 13/14 - dramatic reduction in skeeters

Well, at this point we still have the occasional mosquito but no clouds.  I'm talking inside the house !  Perhaps I've found the two main entries, other than in Cassie's fur !

Cleaning the vent-a-hood (that's a brand name), there were tons of mosquitoes stuck in the grease.  Opening the fireplace, they were flying around.  Closing the hood from the outside and having a fire going seems to have dealt a one-two punch to the skeeters.  Hey, I'm quite prepared to open all the windows (they have screens) if that means keeping the mosquitoes from coming down the chimney and entering the house through the fireplace draft.  That's my working assumption and I'm sticking to it !

In other mosquito related activity, being a sunny breezy day yesterday, I moved the small dock to the lakeside of the gazebo and fixed the screen.  I didn't replace, simply stapled and then put a bead of epoxy along where it was pulling away.  I guess that it's time for me to get some larger screen, which I can find in Florida.

... and, to finish the day's small projects, I went to Arnstein so that Jeff could take a look at that front right driveshaft.  We concluded that while I could replace both boots, it would be better to replace the unit.  Also, the left side was showing signs of leaking ... so they're pricing both and I'll have to leave the car with them for a few hours some day soon.

With the car up, I commented on the rust.  Jeff's comment ?  "Not too bad" - I guess that he's pretty used to seeing rusty vehicles with the salt that they use on the roads during the winter !

2002.  Will it go 20 years ?  When will we have to make a car trade-in / purchase decision ?  What should that be ?  I think that the next go-around would be a car that we transport south and north so that we don't have a car sitting around for six months of the year.   Time will tell.  We're getting old.

Sandy went to Parry Sound with the X5, picking up veggies and apparently some plants although I haven't seen them.  At least that was her intent.  She also picked up a case of wine that had come in.

We got some rain last night AFTER I'd finished grilling the chicken.  That's unusual.  Usually I end up grilling in the rain. This morning there are some showers moving through and then we have several dry days ahead.

I spent a chunk of time over the last two days working on analysis for the RUSA lawsuit ... fun.  I've tried to stay out of direct involvement but I guess that it was inevitable.

Two weeks from today, I will have landed in Frankfurt by now.  Time will go quickly between now and then, especially if I do the 600k next weekend.

Onward !
