Jun 16 - locked and loaded

Well, loaded anyway.  The car that is.  Loaded for the dump.

The day turned out to be mostly cloudy and cool so I busied myself inside, after getting back from Britt.

I sorted through some of the old electronics, packing a bag full of useless (now) cables and boards.  Video and sound cards, lots of ethernet boards, all stuff that would go in pc's that are now obsolete.  Heck, I have several of those obsolete pc's on my shelves still.  I need to turn them on and figure out what I want to do with them.  There's a lot of history here as I'm looking at the "Kylie" pc that used to be on the opposite side of my den in Radnor that Kylie used when they were living with us for that short while.  It has a number of hard drives in it, all tiny compared to today's standards.  They're relatively fast, some high end (at the time) scsi.  Then there's the dual processor pc that's connected to the film scanner.  I haven't used the scanner in a long, long while but before I throw out that dual processor (not just dual core but full dual processors with fans etc.), I need to ensure that I can attach the scanner to a more recent pc ... that's going to take some sorting.

Anyway, electronics, paper for recycling etc. are all up either in the car for the dump or in the garage for recycling.  I have a pile of manuals in my den closet and some of the gear is history - like the apartment sized washer and dryer etc. that are here no longer but I still had the manuals.

One of these days I'll start to clear my shelves of memorabilia ... all these mugs and mementos of my working days.  Some of it, no doubt, someone else will have to dispose of once I'm no more.  There's a lot of Sh ... Stuff here ... that no one else will be interested in.  I retired in 2006, 13 years ago.  Once I hit the same number of years of retirement as I worked for TP, is that the right time ?  Will I last that long ?  Only in retrospect will I know.

There are some things here that should rightfully be moved to Florida as that's where most of my biking mementos are; awards from rides.  A number of those were acquired last year and never made their way south.

It's sunny and calm right now.  When the sun is out the mosquitoes are scarce.  With some quick action I can get up to Osprey Road with my bike and go for at least a short ride.  I'm not all that excited about riding 522 but it's all I have.

Gavin and Amanda popped over while we were winding up dinner to say farewell and to drop off their garbage :).  They were dressed for winter, not much more than their faces peaking out - not really winter but for mosquitoes.  I've got hundreds, no exaggeration, of the skeeters trapped between the glass and the screen in three or four windows.  If I go close to the window, I can hear all the buzzing.  Die !  Die !  Die !

We've had minimal mosquitoes inside after plugging the stove hood and keeping a fire burning.  I'll keep it that way for a while.  The wood that I'm burning is mostly self-cut stuff and quick burning.

Onward ! ?

Onward !
